 'Broken Ear Record, Black Dice’s latest offering, finds the band again '
 'crossing unconventional territories. Taking into account the stronger focus '
 'on rhythmic structures, Broken Ear Record flows with an almost lyrical '
 'phrasing, despite the absence of any lyrics. Instead, spectral segments of '
 'voice chime in as textural compliments. Black Dice have the ironic ability '
 'to creating sonically dense music that still leaves plenty of room.\r\n'

 '"Smiling Off" enters with a propulsive tribal beat, which is gradually '
 'deconstructed into howling bass frequencies, latent vocal bursts, and eerie '
 'farfisa drones. Trails of melody drift through "Heavy Manners" like '
 'wandering strangers. "Twins" features what sounds like a call-and-response '
 'between to animatronic creatures. Black Dice’s efforts make serious headway '
 'with this album, showing a further development in harnessing the chaotic and '
 'making it listenable.\r\n'
